3D simulation Window - pan window?

I do want to pan the viewport of the 3D simulation so to fit better the view on the screen and seems that it is not working as expected. more precisely I can't find a way to pan the viewport. It is rotating around a random point but I can't pan the screen. Please add a feature to be able to pan (move parallel) the viewport of the 3D simulation window.

Also will be good that when opening the 3D simulation window to have the part centered on the screen and not on the half right side how it is now, leaving all the half left side empty.

In the video attached bellow I do try (without success) to pan the part to the left of the window pressing all the Ctrl, Alt, Shift and left, middle, right clicks.

What does the middle mouse button do for you in the 3D view?
